Comp#2: The Force Majeure - February 18, 2023

CITIZENS COMPETITION RULES
ALL CLIMBS ARE AVAILABLE TO ATTEMPT AND CAN CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR TOTAL SCORE, REGARDLESS OF YOUR SELECTED DIVISION.

Climbing Wall Rules

  • START hold(s) are marked with two strips of tape. Each strip of tape corresponds to the starting hold for each hand. On single-hold starts, both strips of tape will be placed together on one hold indicating a matched start position. STARTING ON GRAY VOLUMES: If the tape is under the volume then the entire volume can be used as a START. If the tape is under a specific hold on the volume, then the hold must be used for the START.

  • FINISH will be marked with two strips of tape. FINISHING ON GRAY VOLUMES: If the tape is under the volume then the entire volume is indicated as the FINISH. If the tape is under a specific hold on the volume, then that hold must be matched to FINISH.

  • PERMITTED CLIMBING SURFACES: The entire surface of the climbing wall can be used for hands and feet. Exceptions are as follows:

    • The top of the wall is OFF.

    • Gray downclimbing jugs are OFF.

    • T-Nut holes in the WALL may not be used with your hands.

    • All other volumes are OFF unless their color corresponds with the color problem you are attempting.

  • VOLUMES:

    • Gray VOLUMES are always ON regardless of the color of problem you are attempting. T-Nut holes in the VOLUMES are ON for both hands and feet.

  • NO COACHING OR SHARING BETA with climbers who are on the wall.

Scoring Rules

  • TOP: In order to obtain credit for completion of a problem (TOP), one must demonstrate control with two hands on the Finish Hold and acquire two signatures on the scorecard from Witnesses.

  • ATTEMPT: Record each ATTEMPT next to the corresponding climb on the scorecard. An ATTEMPT is counted as soon as a competitor's last body part leaves the ground or if contact is made with any hold other than the Start Hold (including adjacent problems). ATTEMPTS on problems that are not completed (TOP) will not factor into your final score.

  • THE FINAL SCORE will be the number of points accumulated from your Top 5 ascents minus the number of ATTEMPTS required to accumulate those points. Each ATTEMPT results in a deduction of 1 point.

FILLING OUT YOUR SCORECARD PRIOR TO SUBMISSION:

CALCULATE YOUR TOTAL POINTS BY ADDING TOGETHER THE POINTS OF YOUR TOP 5 CLIMBS. CALCULATE TOTAL ATTEMPTS BY ADDING THE TOTAL # OF ATTEMPTS TO COMPLETE YOUR TOP 5 CLIMBS

SUBMIT YOUR SCORECARD EVEN IF YOU DON'T COMPLETE (5) PROBLEMS.
